iwproxy failing to start [TS552; Solaris 8]

TS 552 Solaris 8, build #9036. If it helps its 64bit kernel on E10K.

After installing TST, and running /etc/init.d/iw.server stop|start, iwproxy fails to start with the following error in iwserver.log

ERROR: Failed to start Interwoven Proxy Server.
ld.so.1: /apps/teamsite/iw-home/bin/iwproxy: fatal: relocation error: file /apps/teamsite/iw-home/bin/iwproxy: symbol cerr: referenced symbol not found
---------------------------------------------

If I pkgrm TST, iwproxy still does not start. When I pkgadd TST, iwproxy is running after the pkgadd, however errors out after running either iwreset or /etc/init.d/iw.server stop|start.

Anybody seen this ? Any thoughts ?

Some more info:
Tried applying TS SP1 and TST SP1. Still getting same error.
If I run iwproxy with or without "-d" flag, I get the same error.

Any thoughts ?

I hate to give such a blanket response - but I suggest you contact Interwoven Support.

I pinged one of our Engineers on this and he had no idea why 'cerr' would not be found - and thought that the machine might have problems that are getting exposed by iwproxy.

I don't recall seeing anyone else report this problem, which would tend to favor the "isolated machine-specific problem" call - but it's probably better if you try to work with the Support folks to see if they have any additional ideas or knowledge of such problems being reported.

I am not really sure, but it looks like iwproxy is expecting a symbol in a library somewhere that it can not find. Have you installed the latest solaris recommended patch cluster from sun? Is there more to the error (like listing what library or symbol it can't find)?

do you perhaps have anything odd set for LD_LIBRARY_PATH? You might want to try adding iw-home/lib into the LD_LIBRARY_PATH varliable to see if it makes a difference.

The recommended patch cluster for solaris 8 is installed. In addition a bunch of recent patches are applied as well.

I did open a case with support.

Sorry, didn't post an update on this one earlier.

Adding <iw-home>/lib to LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable does solve the problem. However that does not identify its cause. In other words, I am not sure why we need to set/modify LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Never had to do that so far.

As fish pointed out this might be some "machine specific" configuration. But we were not able to isolate it.
