TS migration question

Hi,
We are migrating the content store from one server to another and i noticed that My Favourites is missing in the new server.
Does new server would retain My Favourites for specific user?

Current TS version 6.7.1
Platform Solaris 10

Your new server will not retain any favourites because store has nothing to do with My Favourites. They are stored in entity db at 'iw-home\local\entities'
Check this for more information about entity db.

The favorites are stored in IWHOME/local/config/entities/* - not the backing store. If you copied over things like tsusers.xml, tsgroups.xml, etc. and the entire local/config/entities directory - then you would probably retain the favorites - otherwise you won't.

Before asking my TS admin team regarding whether they have copied entire local/config/entities directory. Can I actually know whether the above said folder is copied or not?

If they did a fresh install or distinct upgrade on a separate server - then it would not be copied. If they copied those files over to the other server you would probably not be posting your question because you'd see your old favorites (assuming that the content store provides the locations that the favorites point to).

My guess - they didn't copy it because they neither thought to do so, nor were they instructed to do so.

You have to be careful with copying the entire entities database because the indexes on one server (mapping user account to entity file) may not be the same on the other server.
I would have looked for account name information in the entity files and then looked to copy [some, perhaps all of] the contents of the specific entity file from one server to the correct specific entity file on the other server.
If you just blindly copied the entire contents of the entity directory over there's a reasonable chance you just messed up the target system and you'd be best served by deleting all the users and all the entity files and starting over (though I'd check with Support first - however that doesn't seem to be an option for you...)

Thank you for your reply.
Got it working with the following steps:
- net stop iwserver
- delete and copy entities folder
- net start iwserver
- iwreset -a
- execute ts-home/install/add_edb.pl

Hope it helps others facing similar problem.
