After TS install on linux "Enabling swap space" issue

muksm

Hi,

After complete installation of TeamSite with patches, and after restarting the server, my server got hanged in the startup. It gets hanged on "Enabling swap space" Linux doesnt comes up and keep sticked to that message.

During the startup, using integretity check, I can stop any of the service from startup and can proceed with boot. Using this if I disable iwserver from boot up and move ahead than the server comes up fine.

Its iwserver in startup which is stopping the server at "Enabling swap space" screen. I need TeamSite on Linux box to be installed ASAP.

I'm trying to install TeamSite 6.7.1 on Red Hat Linux

Please help.

Anybody please help!!

I haven't done any Linux installations [yet] - but the basics come to mind:

Migrateduser

Did you read the installation manual? Also, see if you have the updated uvfs file system file? You'll need to install that, and point to it during your TS install for TS to work.

muksm

@ghoti

Yes I read the manuals.

Also I'm installing using "root" user id.

We have'nt yet contact IWOV support.

@noodle_eater2001

Yes, I've downloaded the updated UVFS files as per the instructions given in the manual.

If I remove the iserver service during the boot up and than manually start it, than my server is coming up properly.

I want to know why it cant come up during server start up.

Anybody has any idea about this!

nbwoven

Are you using uvfs-2.0.2 and was that compiled without any issues ?

Hope you pointed the teamsite installer to

the correct pmfs.o

module location .

nbwoven

Is the uvfs module loading even if you disable iwserver also it should be before the swap is enabled? Pls post the output of "lsmod" . .

Migrateduser

Are you getting any error messages in the iwserver.log file?

muksm

@nbwoven

Yes I'm using uvfs-2.0.2. I havent compiled it. I had just extracted the tar file (tar -xvf) and pointed the path of that uvfs extracted folder during installation. That folder contains lot of .o files. Do I need to do anything else besides this?

muksm

@ How can I check uvfs module is running or not? Please throw some light on this. Have attached the output of "lsmod"

muksm

Attached is the iwserver.log. I cannot find any error into this.

nbwoven

Just extracting the uvfs won't help you actually need to compile this module for Teamsite & RHEL OS. Make sure you have Gcc compiler installed and just follow instructions for compiling modules on linux(...A little Googling Pls ..) ...But here are the steps which may or maynot work in your Env. subject to dependencies ..

#cd uvfs_2.0

.x
#make
At the end of the compilation it will tell you where it put the "pmfs.o"

muksm

I've compiled and manually copied 'pmfs.ko' and 'uvfs_signal' into /kernel directory and restarted the server but still the same issue occurs.

nbwoven

Are you able to run the teamsite services manually instead of running them as part of the bootup sequence . ?
Looks like the pmfs module is loading fine but the servlet engine & iwwebd are shutting down .Could you check for port conflicts "netstat -lvt" Pls ?

tec_iwov

you might want to post this on the Teamsite forum.

muksm

Attached is the screenshot of netstat -lvt command. This was taken when iw.server service was manually started after linux coming up and not during the startup

Have tried formatting Linux and giving swap partitions with 5gb and also tried with 10gb but still the same issue exists.

nbwoven

Did you disable the SWAP partition Before formatting using
#swapoff /dev/hdxn (your /etc/fstab entry for swap). ?

muksm

No. I have'nt disbaled the swap partition. Can I disbale it now when my teamsite installation is already over? Can you please throw some light as what is swap partition and how is it reflecting interwoven services. As far as I know, swap space is the additional space given for processing activities carried on my RAM in the system. Please correct if I'm wrong.
