iwsubmit and iwupdate options
wailing
Hi,
Does anybody know what's the difference between the -w and the -x option in these two CLTs? And when to add the -s option?
Thanks.
rgds,
Rika

Hi,
There -x, -s and -w options specify different levels of severity for overwrite during submit or update.
I'll try to explain with an example
For iwupdate,
Consider a case where there are three files in your workarea,
f1 (version2+)
f2 (version1+)
f3 (not versioned, this is a new file in your workarea)
Staging has the following files
f1 (version2)
f2 (version2)
So, a compare between the workarea and staging will show f1 as modified, f2 in conflict and f3 as a new file.
If an update of the workarea is done (from staging), the -w option will delete f3, overwrite f2 and f1 with versions from staging.
doing an update with -s will overwrite f2 and f1 but will leave f3 untouched.
doing an update with -x will only overwrite f2 (which is in conflict) but will leave f2 and f3 untouched.
The same holds true for iwsubmit.

What version of iwupdate contains the -x and -s switches? I am running: iwupdate: 5.0.1 Build 5463 Interwoven 20011220,
and get Illegal Flag errors.

I believe that the -x and -s flags were introduced in 5.5.0 or 5.5.1 or 5.5.2.
