Restrict Categories by Group

Hi All,

Is there any way to restrict Categories by Groups like Channel/Project?

Because, we want to restrict like GroupA will select/see CategoryA and not other Category. similarly for GroupB will select/see CategoryB only.

Please share your suggestion to achieve this.

Hi Jay,

Categories does not have a security mechanism. If what you are trying to accomplish cannot be done using the existing ways (folders, channels, etc), you can open a ticket with support and you can provide a use case and we can create an enhancement request for Engineering to investigate the feasibility of adding something like that for categories.

Jay,

Can you please explain you use case with bit more details?

Do you want the ability to filter by Group in a widget (like a Data Select widget) or in OOTB Categories Tab of a Content Instance?

It should be doable with a simple java code for a Widget and some additional data modeling in WEM.

If you are looking to do it at product level by introducing it to the Categories Properties Tab. Then doing this functionality will require services engagement as it will be a much more deeper customization of the product.

But should be doable.

Interesting usecase. I can see us using something similar as it would make selecting categories more contextual as support to pick from long list.
