Problem executing iwgen from FormAPI/callserver

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with iwgen. I have an event handler on the (formspublisher) generate button, which (through callserver) calls a perl cgi script which calls iwgen (if the output file doesn't yet exist), or iwregen (if it does).

The iwgen/iwregen fails with a 'could not locate' error which seems to relate to the presentation tpl. The strange thing is, if I run the script from the command line, it works nicely.

This is the command that goes to iwgen from the form:

/opt/cms/Interwoven/iw-home/bin/iwgen -t "/default/main/dev/templates/WORKAREA/main/templatedata/1-pages/php-page/presentation/default.tpl" -r "/default/main/dev/templates/WORKAREA/main/templatedata/1-pages/php-page/data/test" "/default/main/dev/templates/WORKAREA/main/test.php"

For debugging purposes, I am capturing the output from the cgi script, and displaying it with a javascript alert. This is the output from the iwgen command:

doIWGen.cgi: output: /default/main/dev/templates/WORKAREA/main/templatedata/1-pages/php-page/presentation/default.tpl: could not locate

and also, the return code from iwgen:

doIWGen.cgi: result: Result code: 0

Perhaps there is some obvious thing I am missing that results in this behaviour. Would someone be able to help me locate the source of my problem?

We use TS 6.7.1.SP1 on Solaris. Can post code if anyone thinks it may help.

It looks like that the command is unable to locate the tpl file as the error say

"doIWGen.cgi: output: /default/main/dev/templates/WORKAREA/main/templatedata/1-pages/php-page/presentation/default.tpl: could not locate"

Have you tried to run this command

from the command-prompt.

Check it's running or not ?

Thanks for replying. From the command prompt it executes fine, so it can't be that.

Interestingly, if I change the command the perl script calls from iwgen to iwpt_compile.ipl, then the script works. But I would rather use iwgen and avoid having to set my extended attributes manually.

Check the environment variables that exist within the callServer process as opposed to those that exist when you run the command from the command line. I'm assuming you have some sort of script (Perl or otherwise) for your callServer so it should be possible to do this fairly easily.

maybe a permissions issue? when calling the CGI, what url do you use? if called directly, it would be iwui executing the process, I believe. You could also use the iw_cgi_wrapper to have the CGI run with the acting user (assuming you're not in this non-OS, non-root situation)

Although that wouldn't immediately explain why it works with the compile.ipl

I am using below snippet of code in my perl script to set value in DCR on save with callServer.

with out above snippet of code CallServer working fine . Only if i use the above code i getting any suggestion pls.

Basically i would like to use formapi call in Perl Script . Please post if you have any examples
