Missing files in Editions and Workareas after iwmigrate

Hello board,

we just finished a migration to TeamSite 6.7.1. Within the testing phase we detected some missing files in the new backing store.

We ran the following command:

iwmigrate -d -m /iwmnt/default_old/ -o /oradata/teamsite_unut/iw-store/new/default -b /default_old/main/deka-de -g >> migration_default.log 2>&1

One of the missing file belongs to a folder that - besides this file - has been migrated successfully. The strange about this file: It has been removed (or just not migrated) throughout all editions. How could that be?

Has anybody dectected such a behaviour during iwmigrate and are there any suggestions how to fix the missing files problem?

I would contact IW support for this issue.. Probably you have gone wrong somewhere.. iwmigrate has been there for years now. Never heard about this issue..

This problem may happen if there has been no regular maintenance on the content store and has been in use for a while (5.5.2 etc.).

Did you run iwfsck before running iwmigrate? Were there any errors?

Contacting support would be one way to go. The other way would be to write a script that does manual migration. But if things are corrupted even a manual migration might not be helpful.

Are you able to browse to that folder and open the file without issues?

thanks for replies. I will answer your questions as follows:

This problem may happen if there has been no regular maintenance on the content store and has been in use for a while (5.5.2 etc.).

We migrated from a TS Version 6.1.0 Service Pack 2 (Build 50914). There has been a regular creation of editions but as far as I know no run for iwfsck.

Did you run iwfsck before running iwmigrate? Were there any errors?

On our current TS installation there is no iwfsck tool, too. So I don't believe it was run. I will search for it, try to run it on the old store and post the result in here.

Are you able to browse to that folder and open the file without issues?

I am able to browse to and open the file within the old store from which I have migrated. Within the migrated store there is no such a file, not even in one of the branch's editions, although this file is in all editions in the old store. This was the fact which made me believe that there must be any kind of conflict within the backing store. I suggested that it could be a problem like a corrupt file allocation table within any filesystem... I think it will be the best to run iwfsck first and then try to find out what has been gone wrong.

The run of iwfsck brought up no errors for the affected branch. We opened a support call and are waiting for answers.

I wondered about the log file of iwfsck. The missing file was not listed in there. Does it have to be listed?

Will be interested to find out what Interwoven says. Was there any special character in the file name by any chance especially ASCII newline character?

Hi,

As of now we have faced 2 issues with iwmigrate

1. category/data type which is not having any DCR/files in them then the same will not be created in the edition and the same will not get migrated.

2. datacapture.cfg, /data/presentation/ And all the .tpl files present in presentation folder will not be created in the edition and the same will not get migrated.

IW has confirmed that there is a BUG with iwmigrate suppied with TS 6.7.1 Sp1 Patch 4.

They will be providing Patch 5. {When? Don't know}

This issue has been fixed in TS 6.7.2
