iwmigrate throwing errors.

Hi,

When I try to do an iwmigrate on any branch, after taking a backup of the backing stores, it simply fails to complete.

Migration from 5.5.2 to 6.7.2

iwtrace log says:

First, as you know TS 5.5.2 is no longer supported so getting official Interwoven help will be very limited.

Are you following the proper upgrade path?

Where did you get the iwmigrate bits from? I mean from which version of TS?

There are probably numerous other questions one could ask because I think your '****'s are obscuring just a bit too much information...

To make it more clear,

Upgrade path:
TS 5.5.2 to 6.7.2 directly without migrating to 6.5 in between.
(As we are doing a fresh installation on a new box)

Does /iwmnt/****/****/EDITION/INITIAL exist?
- Yes, it very much exists
(Editions need not be having iwts:iwts ownership, correct me if I am wrong.)

Are you cross-mounting the stores or did you copy the 552 store onto your 672 server and configure it as an alternate store?
- I have copied the backing store to the new server with 6.7.2 and configured as an alternate store.

Are you running iwmigrate in "pull" mode on the 672 server or are you trying to run it in "push" mode from the 552 server?
- I am running it from the new server where the old stores have been copied into and activated

Who are you executing the iwmigrate command as?
- as root

Did you make sure you deactivated the target store or took down the target server?
- the target store is deactive

Did you adjust permissions on the 552 store so that iwui (or iwts?) has access to the directories?
- The store permissions have been changed to iwts:iwts and 711

What is the actual full command line you issued originally
- /opt/teamsite/bin/iwmigrate -o /opt/iwstore/GECP -b /iwmnt/test-gecp/main/Internet -g >/tmp/migrate.log

Are you doing Solaris to Solaris or something else?
- yes its from Solaris 8 to Solaris 10

I think this clears the doubts.

I was finally able to run iwmigrate successfully.

This time I tried migrating each branch individually and also made use of the -m flag. (But whenever I used -m earlier, it said "-m" is no longer an option in 6.7.2).

I am having the save issues, so I hope this helps.

BTW, it looks like the -m flag was deprecated you use the -b flag. I was trying to do a complete store conversion as well (legacy backingstore, first installed in 4.2) running 6.5, copied to 6.7.2 and running iwmigrate to get it to work on 7.1
