default store

When I was trained, I was working on defaulte store.

Now, where I am working, I dont see the default store on two servers (one is production server and other one is dev server. On dev it is defaults)

So can you get rid of default store ? Whats the purpose of removing default store , does it cost money ? Isnt default store free ?

The default store comes with the installation of TeamSite, so you were able to see it in the training, however, you can get rid of default store by deactivating it. It isin't free as your company paid for TS licence.

You pay for the number of Active Stores, not for the particular name. So, if you've paid for one it can be a 'default' or
'khyati', doesn't matter. For store manipulations check iwstoreadm CLT.

We have 2 Content Stores: "default" and "store2." My client inquired about renaming "default" to "store1." We have a whole bunch of configurations and custom code that we'd have to change and test (if we renamed "default" to "store1," but besides that, could there be any problems in addition to the following mentioned in the fine manual:

* If a store ID changes because a Content Store is deactivated and activated (using the iwstoreadm CLT), the search indexes for all branches in that store need to be purged. Then the branch indexes should be rebuilt.

* The proxy server does not allow you to remap the document root directory for Content Store branches other than the default Content Store.

Incidentally, one can specify a store comment in iw.cfg, but that comment doesn't seem to be visible in the TS GUI. Tarnation!

I would recommend against renaming the default store to some arbitrary name - unless you plan to create a new default store to take its place.

If you really want to rename the default store arbitrarily - I would strongly recommend that you contact Support to see if they have a list of known issues with doing so - before you do it.
