The extended attributes for a file in Teamsite can be viewed by clicking on its properties.
The last property shown are the extended attributes for the file eg.
TeamSite/Templating/Encoding:
TeamSite/Templating/PrimaryDCR: AffiliateProgramme
TeamSite/Templating/PrimaryDocumentType: jetcontent/DropDownWithDescription
TeamSite/Templating/PrimaryPT: DropDownWithDescription.tpl

There is nothing like external attributes.

Extended attributes are stored in iw-store. You wont able to see them.

To get the extended attributes of a file, you can run following command.

'iw-home\bin\iwextattr -l

the iwextattr command line tool will return all the extended attributes associated with a file. This includes TeamSite Metadata, Custom Attributes, and TeamSite Attributes (those used by TeamSite to associate a generated file with it's appropriate templates). Metadata can be viewed and modified via the tagging screen.
