PERL Useful Tools

cute_guy

Hi All,

Here are some of tools I found to be very useful from web, Any comments/reviews/suggestions on them is highly appreciated.

Perl Editor Tool

I came across a Perl Editor tool called "Komodo Edit", the tool has features similar to eclipse like in-depth autocomplete and calltips, multi-language file support, syntax coloring and syntax checking.

This tool seems to be very helpful for PERL Beginners.

Here is the link to the tool (

2) PERL Regex URL
http://www.nregex.com/nregex/default.aspx

This website is a online regex validator, it will help the perl beginners and programmers to master the regular expression which is the most vital part of PERL language.
3) PERL source code analyzer URL
http://perlcritic.com/

This website is online source code review website, this will help a perl programmer to review his own code and check whether his code complies to the PERL coding standards, there by increasing the quality of the PERL code.

Please do share any other useful tools used by you or your org.

Thanks,

Ganesh

FYI - the basis for perlcritic is Perl Best Practices by Damian Conway (O'Reilly) - and you would be better served by reading that book cover-to-cover before using the tool for checking your code's compliance so that you can understand what the criticisms mean and why they may (or may not) be important (not every recommendation in the book needs to be followed - but most of them are very good and worthwhile to adopt).

I certainly did not agree with a number of the code compliance issues it brought up.

One point it does not like (in pain-in-the-a$$ mode) is

something if (some condition);

I use that all the time and like it better than if (..) {.....}

The argument in favor of using the braces is reasonable in terms of
