Internet explorer 8 anyone reporting any issues

Hi

We have been told some of the business is switching to Internet Explorer 8 has anyone reported any issues with using Team Site.

We are running 6.5.

IE8 isn't even officially supported for 6.7.2 SP1 - so it definitely isn't officially supported for 6.5.

Generally, the issues surrounding browser support center around:

to use IE8 with TeamSite, you are likely to run into some issues and as it is not officially supported, you'll run into problems trying to open support cases for any issues you run into.

I have a similar issue surrounding our organization.

There are two questions to be answered here:

1. Whether it works or not?(and I doubt it will for TS 6.5)*;
2. Even if it does work, does having a non-supported browser jeopardize your ability to receive support from Autonomy?

I am talking to our account manager about this right now!

*As far as our preliminary testing is going, I have noticed a few problems (when using with TS 6.7.1 SP1). Mostly around clicking between tabs and new windows opening etc.

Currently my organisation is in the doing POC on upgrading from TS 6.7.1 to TS 7.1 and from IE 6 to IE 8. I got some feed back both TS 7.1 and IE8 have lot of compatibility issues.

So, I would like to get some help/feedback on this. Should we go ahead with the implemantation? If there are issues please do let me know few of them, so that I can suggest the architects to consider all those.

We used TS 6.5, IE6 for developing. But In production we got some issues related to the incompatibility of IE 8 with TS 6.5 from customers.

One of the issue is
1)we create hyperlinks in the Visual editor something like giving relative path of a page that reside on our server. But on previewing its appending "about:" text instead of the "http:" infront of the link. So when we click the link its showing the error page not found. You can find it in editor, on opening the dcr back.

IE-8 wasn't even around when TS 6.5 was released - and given that Microsoft changes IE a lot between releases, there is no way that IE-8 would be officially supported for TS 6.5.

Your basic choices are:

Considering 6.5 is circa 2005 or 2006 you really should upgrade. I have been using IE8 with 6.7.2 SP2 with no troubles. That is not a hard upgrade.

I use it with SP2 and have not seen any problems. Again, I do not think it is supported, but it seems to work.

That is a yes, per the 7.2.1 release notes, IE7, IE8 and FF 3.X

We have had some issues with IE8 on TS 7.2.1 but all of the issues area associated with TinyMCE and some screwy things it's doing when people edit in HTML mode and add attributes to tags like onclick, onmouseover...

Other than that, it all seems to work.

BTW - I've been using Pale Moon (a knock off of FF) and runs very fast. (Faster than FF and Chrome and ...)

forgot to mention. I'm also curious if that use of IE8 is with WinXP or Win7. (officially, Win7 not supported by TS 6.7.2 SP2, but is supported with TS 7.2.x).

I use it solely with Win7 on 7.2.1 and 6.7.2
