thanks.so whatever is developed in development environment, is copied on to the staging physically. This staging environment acts as a replica of production environemnt. So how the code will work realtime and how website looks is checked in staging and then code is copied to the production environment, is this right ? So within one environment like development , files can be pushed using workflow. But between different environments, files have to be physically copied form one environment to the other. Is this correct understanding ?
It all depends on your architecture, having three teamsite servers like dev, stage and prod and keeping code in sync is different. Usually, its the case what you mentioned but not always, so, dig more into your architecture and confirm your understanding with someone who knows it correctly.
Transferring files from one server to other server (eg from Dev to staging) usually means copying files from Dev derver to Staging server. This is usually not done through the workflow. Is that right ? This is where I am getting confused most of the times.Does transfer of files between the servers (From Dev server to Staging server ) happen with workflow ?
Not always and not necessarily, however, workflows are safer to perform these type of tasks
Why is workflow safer ? Someone can accudently push files in the prod or someone who does not know architecture can push files in prod and make a mess. I feel copying files between the servers is safer than pushing files thru workflow. Does this make sense or am I missing something important which makes use of workflow safer ?
