I am trying to change the group for sharing on a workarea but I am getting the following message

"\default\etc\etc\WORKAREA\test not found or access denied"

I am the owner of both the branch and the workarea, which the CLT manual states must be the case in order to change groups, but the system is denying me access to do this.

Any ideas?

I'm not a NT user but try including the drive in your dir path:

P:\default\etc\etc\WORKAREA\test
