What you are asking for *may* not be possibile and if it is could be, reliability could very well be an issue.

So instead of proposing a possibly very bad solution, why not articulate the problem (including TS level, OS, etc) and let people suggest an alternative.

What do you mean?
Do you want to add or remove tasks to / from the existing process flow - no.
Do you want to alter the owner of one or more tasks within the existing process flow - yes.
If you mean something else - you need to provide much more detail about what you are trying to do before anyone can begin to provide you a reasonable answer.
