data Deploy | exceeds column width

Hi,

I am configuring data deploy to write DCT content to Database.

DCT is very simple with one multi-select list box. Data from DCT fields will goto Main Table(GWS_WEP_NEWS) and data from multi-select field will goto to Child table (GWS_WEP_NEWS_TER_ASSIGN).

While deployment I am getting following error:

DBD: Column: WEPN_NEWS_LINK_LABEL, field: News/0/NewsTitle, Index: 2,Converting '...........' to LONGVARCHAR DBD: Column WEPN_NEWS_LINK_URL not found in array DBD: WARNING:Value for [WEPN_NEWS_LINK_URL] exceeds column width [ 30 > -1]

Please help. I searched on devnet and many people are facing same problem. http://devnet.interwoven.com/forums_vb/search.php?searchid=436932

DD was working fine when I had just the parent table. Attached is the dd config, DCT form, error log

it usually means the # of characters of the DCR field your passing into DataDeploy is larger than the length of the field in the DataBase..

actually.. looking at it again..

DBD: Column WEPN_NEWS_LINK_URL not found in array

and

DBD: Column WEPN_SYS_NO not found in array

would mean that column is not in the DB.. if its a recently added (or altered) field.. DataDeploy OOTB caches the DESC of the table, restarting OpenDeploy would do a new DESC on the table.

if that not it, post a sample DCR as well (not just the DCT)

Hi,

My problem is resolved. I read that data deploy cache the table information. In my case my table structure was changes ( new columns added and size of some existing column was changed).

So might be the case that when I was trying DD today for new table, It was still referring to old table (since table name was same, I dropped the old table and created the new table with same name).

Got reply from support that :
There’s the issue, you made changes, but since your connection to the db is cached, they are not picked up.
Restart OD, thus forcing it to re-establish the connection or set cache-db-connection to “no” in the database element.
cache-db-connection — if set to "no", specifies that DataDeploy should open a
new database connection for every deployment and then close each connection at
the end of its deployment. Default is "yes".

So I updated the database parameter and its working now.
