I have two scripts, written by two different people. Both of the scripts, do the same, regenerate/submit/deploy pages in bulk. One script, throttles the submission by using an external file, and every N files (say 500), submits them in bulk. The second script call iwsubmit on every file, once the file is ready.Usually, both of the scripts do around 4000 files. What is the best approach? So far, both of the scripts perform the same.
Performance-wise you're probably better off creating 1 file with a list of all the files to be submitted (interspersed with their submit comments) and calling iwsubmit once for that - because you'd only pay the overhead cost of creating a shell process within which to invoke iwsubmit once, rather than doing that over and over again for each file.
In addition to the fork overhead for the submit, if there are any submit triggers enabled, a submit per file will probably bring the system down as that will invoke the trigger on a per-file basis. A batch submit will only invoke the trigger once.(Most people learn this the hard way *after* they start using things in production.)
