Visual Format(vf) Picture Properties

We need to modify the Picture properties in the VF. When we open the picture dialog box & "Select New File" the path taken is the Workarea path.We need to modify that path for a particular branch(or level).Which file do we need to modify?
Also we have gone through this pdf but were unable to get any output
