Editions Report

Hi There,

I was asked to come up with a Edition Report with the following field values:

1. Edition Name
2. Created (Date and Time)
3. Created By
4. Description
5. Submit Log (No. of submits, No fo files)

Of the above 5 fields, first four fields I got the info from iwattrib, for the Submit Log fields, I used iwevent to find out the number for Submits and files. I have the following issues when I use iwevent:

1. The report takes quite a while to comeup with the report. Looks like iwevents is the culprit, is there any efficient way to do this?

2. After getting the number of submits and number of files, I compared it withe the TeamSite Edition Properties, though the number files is correct, the number of submits is incorrect. I used the following code to determine the number of submits and number of files using the output of iwevents for a specific edition.

Please suggest me if there are any other ways to get the Submit Log. 'Fish', I guess Report Center can do this, for now my client is not implementing Report Center.

Jay's original sample is much better. You get just names and timestamps, he can get everything, Description, Submit Log and the like

I ran your code on some of my Editions and it computed the number of submits just fine. Why do you think it's wrong?

What I wrote is just a sample. If you combine both you gets what he is looking for.

Had you actually read his original post, he mentioned he was able to get all the other info he was looking for. He only provided the snippet of code he was having trouble with (although I'm not sure why he thinks it's wrong yet). What you did was confuse the issue by providing a poorly formatted snippet of code that was not really helpful at all.

First read his post carefully before responding " The report takes quite a while to comeup with the report." My code shows alternate way to get that information quickly I think. All you have to do try to extract rest of the information using iwattrib. It may not be perfect. But it gets you the info quickly.

Keep reading. After the phrase you quoted, he goes on to say the culprit is iwevents, not iwattrib, so he was only referring to the slowness coming from the snippet of code he presented. So your code still is not helpful.

I'm getting an odd collection of users back when I use iwattrib EDITION creator.

Our Editions are created via a Deploy-n-Run script run that first cuts and edition from staging and then deploys the editon.

In the TeamSite GUI, all of the editions are shown as being created by our system "TeamSite User"... But when I use iwattrib I get a variety of different user names back.. None of them our "TeamSite User".

Now, when I look at iwattrib EDITION owner, I do get my "TeamSite User".

So, in the context of Editions, what does the iwattrib "creator" really mean?
