Generate content to multiple areas

cmatsyk

Does someone have a recommendation on how to have content managed in one spot but generated to multiple areas of a site? Any thoughts?

You have to give a lot more details about what you are trying to do.

This is *possible* but is very implementation specific.

It is also something that does not lend itself well into a 5 line sound bite. But put your environment (TS, external, etc) and a use case into a post and maybe someone can offer some guidence.

It really depends....

We used to have a process that did a copy to area to different branches based upon a submit event and some business rules. This quickly got out of hand and could not scale to our 60+ sites.

We have recently change this to be a front-end process. We store some content under a "global" area that can, in theory, show up on any of our sites. For example, when content is rendered on our site, our front end app does the following:

For request
  if content exists under site-name
      serve local content
else if content exists under "global" and business rules allow the content
    serve global content
  else

Not sure if this helps, but what we tend to do in all our production TeamSite implementations is capture your reusable content as their own DCR. Then provide a way to either multiple ostream it out (via TPL) or create a page DCT which allows your users to browse to the content DCRs, that way including them in your single page output. There are many many ways to achieve this, all depending on your application layer on your website.
