Group permissions
khyati
Group gr1 is granted permission on workarea wa1. Templatedata is the folder under wa1. So te,platedata shd inherit permissions from wa1. But templatedata has owner as BUILTIN\Administrators (Which shd be aim-int, as this is the name given to administrator) and sharing group is
aim\Domain Users.
1) group gr1 has full permissions under permission tab (which is not inherited from wa1 but granted on templatedata folder). Isn't aim-int supposed to be the owner and gr1 as the sharing group ?
2) when I check group gr1 by clicking on permission tab, "gr1" is not showing any properties. Its in black letters. While aim-int is in blue letters and it shows all the properties when I click on it. Whats this due to ?
thanks

What version of Teamsite are you working with? Are you using OS or TS groups? What is the OS on the server?
khyati
TS6.7.1 SP1
Windows Server 2003
These groups are OS groups.
thanks

1) Usually the creator of the folder (ex Templatedata) is the owner of the folder. The group owner or owner settings in version 6.7.1 are of little implication (at least to me) since the permissions tab sets the access to the content in the folder and these permissions are usually inherited from the branch.
Are you trying to hide the templatedata from the users?
2) A group with blue letters usually means that it is an entity that you can edit. Such as adding more users. I see this mostly with Teamsite (Non-OS) groups.
OS groups are usually black in letters which means that you can not edit the members of the group. In this case, the black letters are not clickable.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
