How to get a list of sub-branches generated in a text file through external task

Hi,
I am trying to generate the list of sub-branches in a seperate text file, using external task. I am using "iwlist -i" in my external_task_test.wft, but it does not generate any result. Please help me with this.
I am using TS 6.7.2 SP1.

Why are you using the '-i' flag?
Are you providing any other parameters?
What is the actual full command you are using and how are you executing the code in the WFT and/or the external task script?
Perhaps you just need to spend a bit more time reading the manuals and experimenting a bit on the command line before trying to write the code?

my $test_command = "iwlist -i Y:\\default\\main\\newBranch " ;
I have tried this command on command line before, and it works fine with/without "-i". i was doing just an experiment with "-i", there is no specific need for it.
I am executing this command this way -
command v='__INSERT__($test_command);'
which was already there by default. i assume this is the correct way to execute the command. Also i have associated this script to "new_job" command by making an entry into the "available_template.cfg".
if u can suggest me a specific manual then it would be very helpful to me. thanx again.

The '-i' flag is for displaying branch information in UTF-8 format - my guess is you don't need it.

The command "iwlist Y:\\default\\main\\newBranch" by itself is not sufficient as an externaltask command because it does not perform a callback - nor does it store the information anywhere so you're not doing yourself any favors here.

While you can use iwlist, I tend to prefer to write my own code using TeamSite: Smiley Very Happy

irwalk to get a complete list of branches / sub-branches, etc. - and then wrapping it within the requisite boilerplate code (at least) to use it as an externaltask script.

If you don't know how to write an externaltask script - I suggest you find and download the "Workflow Tutorial Supplement" document that I wrote about 9 years ago (one of these days I might update it again - maybe), or take training.
