Hi All,

I m using TS 6.7.1
is there any way in newer version(6.7.1) that we can fetch Description of Item from any property file or from any External source?

After getting this i can set this with the help of IWItem.setDescription (text).
I want to give facility to user that they itself can change description of item.

Does anyone know how to achieve the above functionality in TS 6.7.1?

I don't think any such feature is provided OOTB.
These steps may work out for you:

1. Read the property file values in an IPL using Config: Smiley Tongue

roperties.
2. Fetch all or required values from this IPL based on the user interaction with your DCT, using Form API callServer.
3. Set the description in DCT.
4. Redraw the DCT.

If you want to allow a user to change the description of an item - teach them how to edit a DCT or provide them a custom interface for doing such. It makes no sense (as far as I can see) for a user to change a description of an item in an Edit DCR window if that change is not saved for the next time someone edits a DCR of the same type (and for which they could re-edit the description and start this whole process again?). Frankly, I'm not sure it makes much sense at all for a 'user' to be able to alter a 'description' of an item in a DCT.

Perhaps you have a legitimate need for something, but I wonder if it's a need for what you've expressed or a need for something that you've misunderstood and thus you may be trying to solve the wrong issue. Or if you understood the "requirement" correctly - perhaps the person(s) creating the requirements don't understand what they're asking for?
