How to call command Line tool from the Java code ?
I am using Java program as the preprocessor that does some validation on initiation of the workflow, for which I need to call CLT to find if the selected file is attached to any other workflow or not.
Please suggest how to achieve this.
If we cannot call CLT directly from Java, is there any other way to do this ?
If not through CLT, please suggest how to find out whether the attached file in this work flow is not attached to any other workflow.

You can use Runtime.exec, normally with some supporting java.io Classes like BufferedReader, InputStreamReader etc,
to run OS commands. Alternatively, look at CSSDK workflow Package. There *should* be some Classes/Interfaces to obtain
this information

Here's some CSSDK/Java code to see if a file is in a workflow:
(Assume client is a CSClient object and make sure the client has enough access to view all workflows...) use this in your pre-processor...

int[] taskIds = client.getWorkflowEngine().getRelatedTaskIdsForFile(file);

What the above CSSDK call gives you is all the task ids for the file...
If there are no task ids, then the file is not already in a workflow....

You might also want to look at the newer ProcessBuilder instead of using Runtime. But you should look into using the cssdk and if there are any methods that you can use instead of using the Runtime.

Try to follow these steps in your java class:

1)Get the home directory(either iw-home or od-home).

2)Then concatenate the string and go to the correct path.

3) Build a full syntax of clt.

4)Now you have to run this command through runtime api of java.
for detailed information,search on java portal.

I followed below approach to achieve this..

CSFile csFile = csClient.getFile(new CSVPath(filename));
int relatedTasks[] = csFile.getRelatedTaskIds();

if ( (relatedTasks != null) && (relatedTasks.length > 0) )
... already in the workflows listed in the relatedTasks array.
