CGI script error

Hi,

TeamSite 6.7.1 SP1, Windows 2003 SP1.

I've created a workflow using Workflow Modeler and using a CGI task to run the file sample_cgi_task.ipl, which comes by default after installation. It gives me an error message (screenshot attached) when I submit any file using this workflow.

However, when I use the same ipl file in a wft, it displays the form that is created using the CGI script.

I searched the support site and KB article 54313 gives a solution to this problem. In my case it doesn't work because my script already has the extension ipl and not cgi.

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

Make sure that the sh-bang line (#!) is:

show_env.cgi is (or at least was) a binary wrapper that simply runs the same named script with a .ipl extension - it was needed in older versions of TeamSite on Windows when all the CGIs were executed through the "customer web server" (before there was an iwwebd as part of the product) because IIS had issues with executing scripts that didn't end with .cgi (or something like that).

If that doesn't help - you would need to post your script (as an attachment) so that one of us could look at it - though you should be able to debug it yourself.

Unlike the original problem in this thread, I did not use a workflow modeller, just modified the default_submit.wft file, which comes pre-installed, to run my test cgi script. I have read the previous posts....and I still get the same error. I hop you can help me. Thanks

Ok I changed the extension of my cgi file from .cgi to .ipl, and it started working. Why is this the case?

That's probably because in the WFT Model Workflow Engine automatically uses iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi for the CGI Tasks to impersonate the
task Owner. This CGI requires an "ipl", (not "cgi"!) Extension in the URI Path, something like "/iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi/YourScript.ipl".
Note that in the case of WF Engine all that is created on your behalf.

Note also that you have several problems in your code. Minor one is that you do not close body and html Tags at the end,
probably just missed "end_html" call. Serious one is an empty parameter List of the "start_form" Method. "-action" reference
is mandatory there, without it CGI uses "fake" reference ( to the same Script, I beleive ) and throws a Warning, "Use of
uninitialized value...". That *may* be emitted before Content-Type Directive (you have -w in your Shebang!) which is a big NO-NO in CGI Coding

Thanks for your response.

As for changing from .cgi to .ipl, I am not using the workflow modeller, so why is it that I have to still change to .ipl. I just tried using the show_env.cgi in my wft and it worked fine, however when i write my own script and put it inthe wft, it shows that error (even after I updated with your recommendations).

As for the code, it's just a test cgi script that I was trying to run, but I appreciate your comments about it, and you were right about the form being submitted to the same script, that is what I intended.

Sorry about the confusion, but I am just confused about having to save my cgi file with a .ipl extension. Thanks

It seems like this problem happens only in windows systems running IIS, well I think i have figured out what should be done, so thanks everyone for helping me out.
