copied button does not work

I have to display buttons on an image. These buttons are .gif images and thesebuttons were located in the local machine.

I copied these buttons (rather than importing) , using paintbrush , in the TeamSite and when I checked these buttons by clicking on it, buttons are not getting displayed in the browser. When I imported these buttons in the TS (rather than copying), I can see these buttons in browser.

So whats going on over here, either way buttons are in TS, then why is not displayed in browser when copied in the TS ?

While posting any query should be mention TS version & env.
What i understood by your query that if a .gif file imported into TS it is previewing fine but that is not the same when copied remotely at that location. right!!
I think that should not be happen. Check out the url of image file in both the scenario. Is there any differences in url?
Also check what happen when copied by TS menu Edit-> Copy/Copy To ?
