Install order : TS 6.7.2 , Opendeploy 6.2.0

Hi,

We are planning to install Teamsite , Sitepublisher , opendeploy on win 2k3 Sp2 standard edition.

As per the documentation ! I am planning to follow the following installation order.

1) Install Open deploy 6.2.0 Base , CSF , Admin
2) Install TeamSite 6.7.2 , Sitepublisher

Please let me know if this is correct.

Any additional pointers on this would be a great help !!!

Always follow the documentation. But in the past I have installed Teamsite before OD and nothing bad has happen. Still, always follow the documentation. Smiley Wink

You should install OD first, then the database, then TeamSite. That way, TeamSite installation can pick up all the necessary files so you don't have to do the post installation steps.

It's actually the other way around. Up to and including OD 6.1.1 OpenDeploy® Administration Guide indicated the following:

No configuration is required under the following installation or upgrade scenarios:
- Fresh installation of this release of OpenDeploy on a host with any compatible TeamSite release, etc...

6.2.0 Manual does not contain this phrase however an upgrade recommendations to 6.2 from earlier OD Versions that is does
have assume TeamSite already installed. There are couple KB articles with the same recommendation (for Versions earlier than OD 6.2 though)

Now this is a significant departure from the norm, because (as Bo noted) before 6.7.2, you installed TS first. Now it does mention to install OD first.

Mea culpa, I've missed that one. (Installed 7.1 but not 7.2 yet.) Still, if you read little more you'll see that this is a pre-requisite
only if you plan to install SitePublisher (Chances are, this whole "Anomaly" as you put it has been caused by SitePublisher Installer)

Here comes the gloating part. The original post has SitePublisher as part of the installation hence the requirements stays as stated.

I hope Boris does not gloat when he catches my mistakes......

Hello,

Starting with TeamSite 6.7.2, SitePublisher installer has been merged within TeamSite installer to simplify installation experience.

As captured in TeamSite 6.7.2 Installation Guide, it's recommended to install OD first if you are planning to use SitePublisher, since configuring OD it to work with SitePublisher and LiveSite would be easier.

However this installation order is not mandatory. The users have an option to install TeamSite without SitePublisher and then install SitePublisher in stand-alone mode or install TeamSite and SitePublisher and installing OD later. But the process to configure OD in the latter scenario above would be slightly more involved.
