Making a call from perl

Hi Guys,

Could any body help me to find out the solution?

We are making a call from DCT to the IPL file and I want to make a external call to the URL(http://10.155.1.85:9000action=GetQueryTagValues&FieldName=F23&Print=all&Text=*) and this the text file in the form of hierarchy.

I want to read the file and generate the information of the file in the drop down of DCT..

Can anybody help which process I follow (Java or Perl), previously we are not using any java file from DCT so shall we need any set up to use the java in place of DCT.

Your question is not making sense. You want a perl script to read that URL, take teh data and make it into a select list ? Pretty easy. What part are you having trouble with ?

if you want to get data from a url in perl try looking at using the modules:

use LWP::UserAgent;
use HTTP::Request;
use HTTP::Response;

it's what I use for doing a directory browse in TeamSite templates to a remote machine and works pretty well.

Becoz havn't try to give call to the external url from IPL file.

You can use PERL script to call any URL and get the response from the URL. Basically, you have to use some PERL modules like LWP::UserAgent , HTTP::Request , HTTP::Response for your purpose. You can go through PERL docs of these modules for more information.
