How to apply a TeamSite group on a directory

Hi,

I am using TeamSite 6.7.1 SP1 on Solaris 10 platform.

How can I apply a TeamSite group recursively on a particular directory, if that group is not an OS level group?

You can do this manually for each directory through the UI. Alternatively, you can set up the submit.cfg and just submit all of your directories.

iwchgrp is the CLT to do this. Or you can be lazy like me and change submit.cfg, touch everything and run iwsubmit.

There are 100's of sub directories and thousands of files in a directory.
I can't do it manually and I can't submit to STAGING right now.

is iwchgrp CLT works recursively on a directory?

I do not know, the man page was not clear

find . -type f -exec iwchgrp WHATEVER {} \;

will work for all files.

remove the -type f for dirs and files

Play with find it is a wonderful tool.

No Luck. It is not working.
I tried:
>cd
>find . -type f -exec iwchgrp group_name

It is giving an error msg as follows
find: incomplete statement

Wrap it in a custom script and run that.

Try using iwaccess CLT.
It executes the command recursively...... I guess u need to use -R option while executing.

use this command:

/bin/iwaccess set-group [vpath] [group] -r

Just replace the [vpath] and [group] name accordingly.........

This will set the group recursively for all the directories, files and sub directories......

Well people have posted iwaccess which does have a recursive option

As to the find issue, you did not do what I told you, the command is

find /iwmnt/default/main/branch/WORKAREA/content -type f -exec iwchgrp NEWGROUP {} \;

The open/close curly brace inserts the filename in the command and the the escaped semicolon \; separates the hundreds of commands.

No luck.
I tried ./iwaccess set-group [vpath] [group] -r and ./iwaccess set-group [vpath] [group] -R.

But the [group] applied only on directory but not recursively on subdirectories and files.

Any help appreciated.

You can also use the below command.

Go to the directory above. say, you want to set the permission on htdocs in templatedata directory.

cd to templatedata and

chown -R user:group <>

This works for me everytime.

Yes. nipper was exactly right. chown, chgrp works with only OS level groups but won't work with TeamSite groups.
