suppose we have 3 profiles like manager, distributor and end user.can we create a component which would distinguish between the 3 and finally show the horizontal menu according to the profile, i.e profile specific menus. I want to know if we can achieve this with minimal use of Java code.
Kindly tell me where you wish to handle the profile. At Application Level that you will build-up using page that will have your desire component. At LS level means to say that At the time you are creating the page/component.
At the application level.
Then if your application is not an java application(as i believe) and if you are also maintaining the profile in your application, then you can do this by implementing the JS at Component level in Appearance XSL.Steps to achieve this are:Let's say we have this scenario profile-1..............menu1,menu2,menu3profile-2..............menu1,menu2profile-3..............menu1,menu3Now create an component that will have all three menus that are menu1menu2menu3Create an XSL Variable ,call an JS that will get the object of your ProfileHandler and retrieve the current profile.Based on that variable Implement choose and otherwise xsl tags for the requirement.Note:The tough part is to get the handler object in js and allocating it to the xsl:variable, I have not implemented it but it is an suggested possible solution. But if you don't have a profile Handler at application, then first create one that will keep track of current profile.HTH
its a java and livesite application
That's ok. I think same solution can also work here.Just read the earlier one thoroughly.
how can we link 1 xsl file to 2 or more xml files.
