TS search Date conversion in query

Hi,

In Extended attribute When i search date then at query submission it change our format to digit(12463164 00000)

If i give 30 jun 2009 for search EA then TS compare greater than equal to(12463164 00000) and Less Than(12464028 00000) number.

if i give 29 Jun 2009 For search EA Then- GE(12462300 00000) LT(12463164 00000)
if i give 30 For search EA Jun 2009 Then- GE(12463164 00000) LT(12464028 00000)
if i give 1  Jul 2009 For search EA Then- GE(12464028 00000) LT(12464892 00000)
greater than equal to(GE) and Less than(LT)

Its showing Per day difference is 864
Please tell me how this conversion is happen Date -> 13 digit number?

Please suggest.

Actually the difference is 86400000 (milliseconds) between the two numbers. That 13 digit number you're seeing is the number of milliseconds since jan 1, 1970. This is referred to as Unix Time http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix_time and first started on Nov 3rd, 1971. Obviously the number can get pretty large.

Unfortunately, I don't believe that is 100% correct here - as the epoch time for 'now' is only 10 or 16 digits long:

~ > perl -e 'print time' | wc -c
      10
~ > perl -le 'print gmtime(time)'
3452114610961840
~ > perl -e 'print gmtime(time)' | wc -c
      16
~ > perl -le 'print scalar gmtime(time)'
Sat Jul  4 11:52:39 2009

If you look at the values from the original post:

~ > perl -le 'print scalar gmtime(12462300)'
Mon May 25 05:45:00 1970
~ > perl -le 'print scalar gmtime(1246230000000)'
Wed Dec 31 23:59:59 1969

Neither of those look like they're June or July 2009.

as I said in my post those are milliseconds...current unix time in seconds is 10 digits long and if you turn it into milliseconds it's 13 digits long (on feb 23 of 2009 they hit the 1234567890 unix time in seconds). when I run it through javascript time functions i get these 3 dates for the GE times:

Sun, 28 Jun 2009 23:00:00 GMT
Mon, 29 Jun 2009 23:00:00 GMT
Tue, 30 Jun 2009 23:00:00 GMT

and since the time difference is 86400000 (number of milliseconds in a day) I would have to conclude the other dates would be:

Mon, 29 Jun 2009 23:00:00 GMT
Tue, 30 Jun 2009 23:00:00 GMT
Wed, 1 Jul 2009 23:00:00 GMT

Now it's not the exact times but I have no idea if there is timezone considerations going on or what but it's definitely using milliseconds to represent the time and looks like it's off the jan. 1 1970.
