Preserving Modified By and Modified Date after CLT script

We are currently undergoing in upgrade to TeamSite 6.7.2 and as part of it we are re-doing some of the directory structures in our branches. We have a simple Perl script that reads the EA for where the PrimaryDCR is and then appends on the new directory structure and resets the EA. That works - no problems.

The issue is that this changes the both the timestamp (Modified) and the Modified By - which we don't want to have happen for compliance reasons. Unfortunately, those attributes can only be read via the iwattrib CLT (moddate, creator) -- but you can't set them (at least not that I can tell). I don't want to set new these values as EA using iwextattr - but rather keep them as the moddate and creator.

Any perls of wisdom on this?

While I'm not crazy about your coding style, if the script works - fine.

Preserving the modified date is rather difficult to do because you would essentially have to keep changing the system time on the server before / after each submission to do it.

Preserving the modified by information might be a bit easier to do by utilizing workflow. On Unix this should work easily, but on Windows it might work. You would write an externaltask script that would determine who the owner should be and then change the ownership of the task before executing iwsubmit or looping through a submittask and changing the ownership on that.

Ultimately, however, it may be easier to just retrieve the date and ownership information from the existing asset and just appending or prepending it to the existing comments - which you should be able to get via iwrlog.

E.g.: If on 2008-03-01 juser submitted a file with a comment of "here we go" - you would re-submit the file with a comment of "[2008-03-01] juser: here we go"
