History/Revert : Newbie

Hello,
Each time you submit a file to your staging area, you add an entry to the history list of that file. My question is:
if you submit, for instance, 4 times the same file to the staging area, how is it possible to revert to the first version you submitted.
I thought revert was relying on Edition... does this mean that each time you submit a file there is an implicit/hidden edition of that file?

TeamSite creates a version of the file each time you submit it to STAGING. It has nothing to do with EDITIONS. An EDITION is just a snapshot of STAGING area at a given time.

"Revert" does NOT rely on "EDITIONS". It relies on versions created by TeamSite when files are submitted.

I think most of the reply is correct except that when an edition is created the specific version for the modified files compared with previous edition will be stored in this newly cut edition and if you delete this edition you will lose those versions.

You can find this out when you look at each version, it tells you where each version is being stored in.
