Web CMS (TeamSite)
website migration
nk300
We are running our company website in ASP.NET 1.1/IIS, and about to migrate to our parent company framework, Interwoven.
In order to do so, what are the easy steps to get it done. Do we need to redo the website from scratch to the new framwork , else is there a better/time-sensitive way to do this

Do you mean that your website is developed using ASP1.1 and IIS? What are the steps to get the content in Interwoven and still output ASP1.1?
thanks,
Anthony

yes, once after the migration to Interwoven, we will stop using the old website running in ASP.net/IIS

From what I understand you don't need to stop publishing your websites in ASP.NET. We have several websites that are currently in ASP.NET 3.5. We are just building Presentation Templates that output the correct code that will render an ASP.NET page.
I would suggest copying one ASPX page on your website with everyting and starting by just creating a template of the exact code wrapped in CDATA tags to see it work. Then just go through and add the IW specific tags and logic you need.
I beleive if you are using LiveSite that answer is different. A LiveSite guru would probably better equipped to answer this, but from reading it sounds like LiveSite creates
.page
files and not
.aspx
files.
Hope this helps,
Anthony

This is a quick example of what I mean. I just grabbed some sample ASPX code as an example.
<html>
<body bgcolor="yellow">
<center>
<h2>Hello W3Schools!</h2>
<p><%Response.Write(now())%></p>
</center>
</body>
</html>
hope this helps,
Anthony

thanks Antony for your response,
can you explain how the database part works, we are using SQL server 2005, should we use the same database for Interwoven, else do we need to use the IW Database, please assist.

If you are asking do you need to change the way you develop or consolodate all databases on the same servers as the Interwoven SQL Server?
There is also the possibility you are looking to front end an application using the FormsPublisher and want the information to go into a database.
I beleive the answer is no to both of these questions. We haven't moved our SQL store and don't need to make changes to the apps we develop. We have applications that use SQL 2000 and 2005 and they can remain in tact. The applications and dynamic areas of the site like Job Searching will remain the same.
Where we leverage TeamSite is with static pages. Interwoven stores the content in the dcrs and you use presentation templates for the display. I imaging there is a way to integrate your applications so that TeamSite can control the look and feel, but we haven't gotten there yet.
If you are using FormsPublisher to get data to a Database you would most likely be using DataDeploy. I beleive in the setup you can specify which database server and properties you wish to use.
Are you moving from a home grown content management system or are you just looking for how to integrate your existing .NET applications into TeamSite?
Thanks,
Anthony

yes, we are looking in the direction of migrating our existing website .NET application to Interwoven.
