Accessing TypeMap programmatically

Invoking the IMANEXT2Lib.IManFileSaveDlg to capture the save of a document from Word. Currently building out the document type list (interface: "Save as type") manually. Is there a way to populate this from the TypeMap table or an enumeration available?

I think you've misinterpreted what the TYPEMAP table is used for.

The list you're referring to can be discovered by looking at the various file types supported by the target application's object model

For example, to fetch back a complete list of Word "Save As" file types you have to:
1. evaluate all of the built-in file types supported by the WdSaveFormat enumeration
2. enumerate all FileConverter types installed locally by the application

You need to do this because each installation of Word may have a different collection of file converters installed locally (these are optional during Word installation)

To evaluate all of the WdSaveFormat options you can either hard-code the list according to the version of Office you have installed (i.e. Word 2003 may have a different WdSaveFormat enum list to Word 2007), or you can use .NET Reflection (or similar library) although bear in mind this obviously won't return you the descriptions. Annoyingly there is no way of evaluating the descriptions, as far as I know.

To evaluate all the file converters try something like (C#):

}

"app" is an instance of Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.Application (i.e. the actual Word app)

SaveFormat is the 32bit integer you should pass to the FileFormat parameter of Word's SaveAs method. The number in effect extends the WdSaveFormat enumeration

I think you'll need to do the above for each app you want to support
