What is the framework of Interwoven and what are the different technologies being used, is it Java based

Interwoven Teamsite is based on J2EE platform. It's web server is Tomcat. As per Framework point of view it is combination of Struts, Spring and Hibernate. It's many functionality also based on Perl.

I would definitely like someone from IWOV engineering to back this up *if possible*. Interwoven TeamSite has many different applications within. For instance, the backing store, CLTs, CCPro, workflow subsystem etc.

thanks for the response, we are about to start building our website from scratch using Interwoven, how difficult is this for development, how much time does it take, we have only 2 resources to build our corporate website.

We are also new to Interwoven, planning to take some good fast track training, and start working on it, Any advise on what kind of training we can do.

Also our existing website is in Microsoft.NET, and how easy is it to migrate the whole website to Interwoven, else do we need to redo the website from scratch.

It is not too difficult, but before starting development you have to finish basic works, TS exposure, like architecture design, business logics etc.

As you are new to Interwoven then its right planning to go for training. Interwoven arrange training on certain number of trainees. As you are only two people so ask them (support) about procedure.
There are various product of Intewoven. As per your requirement you can go with Teamsite, Livesite, Workflow and OpenDeploy.

That is not an issue. In normal you can generate .Net code through Presentation Template file (tpl) and in Livesite there is also option for generating .Net file from .page file.

The current website running in MS.NET needs to be migrated to new website, which we are planning to start soon. Our current website accesses all company product/non-product related files from FTP server.

We dont have plans to use the same FTP server for Interwoven, so what is an alternate approach to get this out and bring in all document files, tons of them to Interwoven.

Please advise.

This depends on how you are planning to move/redesign your website so that it can be created and managed using Interwoven products. It may also depend on whether you are moving away from IIS to another server. Are you going to run the new site on LiveSite?

I am assuming that there is some reason for keeping the documents on an FTP server and not locally on the application server in your existing .NET application. Depending upon the point of origin of these documents, you may want to bring them to your new Interwoven TeamSite (authoring) server or import directly to your web server.

Once you have your TeamSite server, web server and deployment path/s setup. It is easy to import files to TeamSite workarea/s and deploy them to website/s.

If the documents are created by users within your organization, then I would recommend keeping them in TeamSite as that's what it is for - managing content.

Here is our approach, since my parent company want us to develop our website with IW, which they are using, we are moving to TS/LS.

If thats the case, can we remote login to Interwoven servers, and start development, else do we need to have Interwoven physically installed in the local machine at work place.

You can do both, develop remotely or locally.

You can use TeamSite ContentCenter (a web based UI) or you can use remote connection for development work. You can also develop on a local TeamSite server and merge your work on a remote TeamSite server for content authorization.

Deployments to production website should be from the production TeamSite server.

Well, as I replied earlier, you can easily import content from the exiting FTP server to your new TeamSite server. Later you can deploy it from TeamSite to the new/existing server hosting your new/updated site.

TeamSite is a Content Management product; I am trying to understand what functionality you want from it to replace your FTP server.

Looking at your questions, I think you need to do a detail planning and answer what, how, who, where, when about migrating your site.
