Hi,

I want to get a trigger when a file is imported or created in a specified TeamSite folder.I could not found any options to configure.so please advise me if you have any options to achieve.

I found a CLT command iwatcreate.ipl. Please advice how to run this command to get a trigger when a file is imported in TeamSite.

Read the entire "(IWAT) Command Triggers" section (not just the CLT that you are after) in the CLT guide including the "Starting Command Triggers" sub-section. Then focus on your particular CLT. Also note that these triggers are setup differently for different OS -- be sure you get your hands on the right one.

I'm interested in this also. There's a similar thread from 2008 called '"iwat trigger" versus "file watcher daemon"' that explores using iwat for pretty much this same requirement.

I've got a new project with a similar requirement. Any time an .htm / .html file is created / modified in a particular directory in a particular workarea, I want to execute a script to deploy the file.

I generally understand iwat triggers and have had a few of them running for years now. But when I think of implementing a trigger based on -any- file being created in TeamSite (this could be many thousand files a day) and then having the script figure out if the file is from the particular directory I want - it just seems like a bad idea.

I don't think there's a way at this time to only selectively trigger based on a file change within a certain area. If anyone knows differently, I'd like to hear about it.

I'm currently thinking right now that I'll just cron up a script that periodically checks for differences and then deploys them. I still would rather have it be triggered by an event though.

There's nothing that will limit the trigger from firing based on the directory - the logic has to be placed in the trigger script to quickly, and gracefully, exit if the file that triggered the script is not with the directory of interest or does not have the desired extension, etc.

If you can do the filtering logic simply and quickly you'll still have some load on the server, but much less than you might if you try to hold off such filtering until after you've already started running resource-intensive operations.

Do not use iwatcreate. Newer generic "iwat" Trigger is portable and much easier to configure correctly. It is also simpler to write an Event Handler code for it.
