How to Create DCRs programatically?

I am looking for solutions to create DCRs programatically. Consider we have content with all the extended properties should it have in rows of excel. By writing a custom java application parsing excel rows, would be possible to create DCRs within TeamSite using CCSDK?

Any other solution is also welcomed.

Hi,

We havent tried Automatic DCR creation using java but we created with Perl.
We are getting XML RSS feed from online and we will create DCR from those feeds automatically. Basically you need to come up with DCR template and you need to fill the template values by fetching values from xls.

For example consider your DCR template looks like

!!!PAGE_VALUE!!!

In java read the above template in string.

Whenever you are getting !!!RECORD_NAME!!! then give dcr name by generating some unique value and whenever you are getting !!!PAGE_VALUE!!! then replace it with the value from xls value.

And write entire string(template modified now) into some file save it as DCR.

Save it as DCR means you need to give extended attributes to that file then only it will be converted to DCR.

Hope it would solve your problem.

Try this one as well in perlscript,
1. Parse CSV to array of hashrefernce.(Each line in csv should go in hash)
2. Iterate all the values in array.
3. Create XML for each hash.
4. Finally set the Template Type attribute to the file

Create a DCR using DCT and take the XML and write a perl program in such a away that values become varibales and variables are fed from an excel sheet or an input file.

If you're gonna be doing this in Java, you probably don't want to mess with string replacement (which is where PERL kicks ****). I'd instead suggest converting a shell DCR into an XSL template, and then dynamically generating XML data structures in memory with your content and applying the template to them to get your final DCR output.
