Component Error

Hi everyone,

I need to create a component which has some HTML code associated with javascript. In some scripting cases like one mentioned below, the component is not getting saved.

{script language="javascript"}
function testComp(){

if ("one" == "one") && ("two" == "two")
{
... do some action ...
}
}
{/script}

&& is the root cause of the same, as it tries to check the entity just after & mark.

To do a workaround, i tried to encapsulate the script within CDATA, but it tranforms the && to & a m p; & a m p ; (remove spaces) and get saved. However that makes my script non-executable.

Any suggestions or pointers are all welcome.

The possible solution that i have implemented at my end is to embedd the script externally by adding as an resource at page level.

This will work.

Thats the last option i have. Trying for any internal solution. Smiley Happy

Encapsulate your script code with CDATA, for example:

<script type="text/javascript">
<![CDATA[

//your js code here including && chars...

]]>
</script>

You can also just escape your & symbols. There are several examples of this in the OOTB components... for example the "Rate This - 5 Star" component uses a <script>block without a CDATA section. In the component editor I think it should just be & but in the .component file its double escaped, so && is stored as &amp;&amp;.
