Web CMS (TeamSite)
Copy / export / import AdminWorkArea
smitty42
Hi,
I want to copy the complete workarea of my (former) project to another Teamsite CMS server - including the templates and metadata.
Sadly, it is not possible to copy directly via the path, because the both servers don't know each other. Sadly, I have no access to the file system, because the server is "far" away. Only weba ccess is available.
Does anybody know a solution for this copying issue?
best regards
Martin

Hi,
If you are having web access to Open Deploy with bootstrap user access(old remote server) then write one configuration(copying from remote server to current server with extended attributes) file and upload it to that server and start the deployment.
Before starting the deployment you need to add current server details into odnodes and odbase conf files and u need to restart the open deploy server. U can view those files in Servers Section/manage server.
If you dont have web access to Open Deploy server then you need to download entire workarea into your local system by download folder option in Teamsite GUI Screen. But metadata u need to set manually only.
Some other way is using Perl Script after downloading all files into local system get the path of each and every file and form remote server url path(like below) and access the metadata like below in ur perl script
$newsUrl=
http://x.x.x.x/iw-cc/command/iw.ccpro.file_properties?vpath=//server/default/main/****/WORKAREA/yyy/house.html
my $ua = LWP::UserAgent->new;
my $response = $ua->get($newsUrl);
my $newsFeedContent = '';
if ($response->is_success) {
$Content= $response->content;
}
from $Content u can split all the properties and u can take whatever u want.
We have used this scenario for some other purpose. But u can try and check.
Thanks

Oh, we have yet another Smitty?
smitty42
There are smittys all over the world :-)
-> thank you for the explanation! sadly, I just only have access to the web frontend, I'm not able to make any other connection to the server. There is no remote access to the filesystem, so there is no possibility to put perl scripts to the server or execute them manually.
I think as long as I just only have access to the web frontent, it's not possible to make a restoreable backup of a WorkArea, including the meta data?
Thank you for your help!

Well without local filesystem access, you are SOL. You need to get someone to give you SSH or remote desktop access. It is quite difficult to do your job without it.
That being said, you *may* be able to use the OpenDeploy Admin GUI to set up a deployment between the 2 servers. That will take changes on both sides.

Hi Smitty,
You no need to put perl script on the remote teamsite server box and execute it. I know you dont have remote access via SSH or file system. Thats why i given the solution in different way.
You need to place that script in your current server and execute it. But if you dont have proxy access to that remote teamsite server then you might be again in trouble. Since if i know your remote teamsite url i can also access that server records and metadata.
Thanks

Wannabe... :cool:
I do not understand the problem. I assume the former project is at your place of employment? How is it that if you are tasked with transferring an entire workarea from one TS server to another, that they will not give you access to the source TS server. Seems fishy to me...
