SitePublisher Page edit

SP pages are in the runtime environment as below

1 http://budev.tric.ca/shop

When I type this url, it directs to a page. When I click on edit button on this opage, it directs me to TeamSite production, which I dont have access to.

2 http://budev.tric.ca/shop/SPpage_9.page

When I type this url, it directs to another page. When I click on edit button on this page, it directs me to TeamSite development where I have access and I can edit the page.

When the primary web ID is the same (http://budev.tric.ca/shop) , then why am I being directed to diffrent servers ? Its just a matter of different directory.

well the two urls are different did you mean to have:
1 http://budev.tric.ca/shop

and

2 http://budev/tric.ca/shop/SPpage_9.page

it's completely possible for those two links do go to different servers since they are totally different urls. budev and budev.tric.ca can be completely different servers. your production server might accept budev.tric.ca instead of www.tric.ca and so that first link actually does go to production and the second link (http://budev) probably points to your development box since you don't specify a TLD in the url. Unless what you posted was a mistake and you actually meant 2 http://budev.tric.ca/shop/SPpage_9.page in which case you can ignore this post.

Its a typing error to put http://budev/tric.ca/shop/SPpage_9.page. Sorry about that. I have corrected that error.

I understand that budev and budev.tric.ca are two diffrenet urls.
But are first and second URLs mentioned in this post, two different URLs ? It looks same except last directory added in second url

yes.
Is that because the edit is linked to different website from different pages ? I mean edit from homepage is connected to one server and edit from another page in sub directory is linked to another server ?

More than likely you have an "edit this page" component on your page: "The Page Edit Component renders a link on the live production page for the SitePublisher Page Editor environment."

In other words, in your production LS environment, you are seeing a "edit this page" link which points to the TS server where that page (really more importantly that site) was published from and where it resides.

It basically takes the URL from whichever TS server the site was published from. So if you publish site pages from TS-Server-1 then you'll get a URL (for the "edit this page" link) that points to the TS-Server-1.

Are you publishing from multiple TS instances into single LS instance? Are publishing site pages from your prod-TS and dev-TS to a single LS instance? That may cause this issue.
