Read-only external data in FormsPublisher

Hi all,

In brief, we have information from elsewhere in the content store which we would like to display to the user on the form. I am comfortable using FormAPI or inlines to write this data into fields in the form - but I don't want any of this information to make it into the DCR.

Is this possible? I have tried giving empty strings as pathids etc., but this results in the system refusing the DCT as invalid.

Any suggestions?

I am not certain about your requirements, but it sounds like you want a field that you can display information (readonly) but is not in the DCR ?

There are 2 approaches I can think of. I remember someone trying an I-Frame (for lack of a better term). You could certainly do that as a popup, but I am not certain about an inline.

A potentially easier approach is to set it with FormAPI and then before the save event clear
that field of data so that it is not saved.

If pop-up Window is fine, take a look at [post=132823]this[/post] sample, it may help. Call your own CGI/Servlet, show whatever you want
and do not make any call-backs so that nothing gets populated on the Form

OK, I remember some loser posting about it. With a limited attention span, I certainly never tried it out to see if it really worked.
