changing the email subject feild in a running Job

Hello TS gurus,
Im given the Jobid of a running job and the taskid of the email task. I have to change the subject field of the email task.
Whats the best way to do this.?

I ve been trying through iwjobvariable CLT but nothing seems to help me Smiley Sad

There are far more knowledgable people than me on this board, but maybe this will help.
My email task uses a copy of the iwsend_servlet_mail.ipl ( the orig should be found in $iw-home/bin) which i have modified. The subject line is populated in the code by this section of code.

my %headers = (
'To' => $recipient_email,
'From' => $taskowner_email,
'Subject' => "TeamSite Task Notification",
);

what you 'may' need to do is replace the section with something like

my $custom_subject = "What ever you want to appear";

my %headers = (
'To' => $recipient_email,
'From' => $taskowner_email,
'Subject' => "$custom_subject",
);

A lot depends on which version of which email notification script you are using. If you're using the latest version of iwsend_mail.ipl (5.5.2) then you could create a task-level variable key="mail_subject" value="whatever you want" - associated with the email task to control the subject line in the email.

If you are doing this as a dynamic thing as part of your workflow, then you would use an externaltask and probably use routines in TeamSite::WFtask. If you are doing this as a one-time quick-fix external to the workflow, then you'll want to use the CLT iwtaskvariable.

If you are using some other script or some other version of the iwsend_mail script - I think you'll have to take the advice within the other response - change the script before it gets called.

I tried by adding task level variable thru WFB and I am getting error. My external task as follows:

I cannot check our bug database right now - but I believe this is a known (and possibly fixed) bug - the 'variables' section is supposed to come *after* the 'activation' section.

Check the support site first to see if there is a patch for WFB (I think there is), and if there are release notes that describe the fixes. If you cannot figure it out from there - contact Interwoven Support and they should be able to help track down the bug report and whether or not it's been fixed - and/or add your name to the report.

From the 5.5.2 SP3 list of fixed bugs:

33814 WorkflowBuilder-generated workflow templates put the task variables before the activation element therefore violating the DTD.
