Image preview using http url

Hello friends,

I am using TS 672 with mediabin 462 for content management.
In our environment,
1.we are creating content in TeamSite using DCT.
2.Deploying the DCR to the oracle database.
3.Suns WSS portal is handling the presentation layer.
4.WSS portal fetching the data from the oracle database & displaying it.

Whenever i deploy DCR there is relative path which gets deploy to the database.
But for previewing the same image in the WSS portal i need http url path for the same.I want to build the http url for the images which are present in the mbdata directory.

Any pointers on the same.

Your description does not say anything about how images are deployed from MB to WSS.

Are you importing images from MB to a TS Workarea before deployment?

Digital assets will be stored on SAN, which is mapped as MB repository. Portal will pick up the assets form the same location.

I am neither importing images into the TS workarea nor deploying the same to the WSS portal.
I will deploy DCR from workarea to database which contains path of the images present in the mediabin.WSS portal will use the same database and display the image.But WSS portal expects http url of the image for previewing perpose.

MB is more of a media repository than a filesystem for your website - atleast that's how its been designed. The best practise is to keep raw images - psd and other native formats in MB and syndicate them by converting on the fly to web-compatible size and format.

You don't want to link your html pages to a 500MB company logo in psd format, do you?

We are having large number of images n we are storing them in MediaBin.
Any how i want to build the http url so the portal can use that.

How are you going to have your web visitors get past the Mediabin authentication?

In this use case we want to use MB as a way to upload digital assets to SAN in the initial phase. It may be used full fledged later. Here the advantage will be a UI for uploading plus TS can browse these images (as they are uploaded through MB)
We would like to confirm the following:
These assets can be accessed from SAN using an http url. If instead of FTP we use MB to upload assets to SAN is it still possible to access these aasstes using http url? Authentication will not be an issue as WSS portal can access assets on SAN using http url.
Any pointers would be very helpful.

Currently MediaBin doe snot expose a filesystem interface the way TeamSite does. The expected use case is that you use MediaBin as a source to publish to the web page. One of the issues is that for most users the content deployed goes through an approval process and just because a file has changed in MediaBin one would not necessarily want that change to appear immediately to the outside worl. Furthermore, in many cases what is displayed has undergone a transformation task (e.g., conversion to a relatively low resolution jpeg).
