Directory comparison method of OD
Ananda_31091
Hi All,
i am required to Opendeploy the content from one box to another.
i have a descriptor file with the following entry.
target useReplicationFarm="ABC"
targetTeamsite area="abc/def/ghi" applyExtAttrs="yes"
comparisonRules dateDifferent="yes"
permissionRules directory="0755" file="0755" group="cms" user="cms"
transferRules doDeletes="no"
target
i am doing actually directory comparison method of deployment.
1) In the above code if i give dateDifferent="NO" instead of yes, does it do Full deployment without doing any comparison ( i mean blind deployment) ?
2) is it mandatory to mention any comparision attribute ( like datedifferent)?
3) if i dont mention any attribute then does it take any default value?
Please let me know the answers.
Regards,
Ananda

Q. If i give dateDifferent="NO" instead of yes, does it do Full deployment without doing any comparison?
A. No. In this case only source-side Files with
newer
modification date will go. dateDifferent="yes" Deploys any Date/Time difference.
Q. Is it mandatory to mention any comparison attribute?
A. No, the whole Tag is optional.
Q. Does it take any default value?
A. Yes, see Comparison Criteria and sequence in the OD Administration Guide, Chapter "Deployment Features", paragraph "Comparison Rules".
Note that for Comparison Deployments all these additional Criteria become relevant only when Source/Target File Dates are identical

thanks for replying.
can you please tell what you mean by newer modification..
does it mean
assume that i have 3 files
1)a 10-21-2008
2)b 10-20-2008
3)c 10-20-2008
in this case does only file "a" will deploy?

During a directory comparison OpenDeploy compares the directories and files on the source
against identically named
resources
on each Target. So, if you have File "A" with the Time stamp 10-21-2008 12:00:00 on Source and identically
named File on Target with the Time stamp 10-18-2008 23:15:00, the Source is newer.
