NOOB Q - using groups or distribution lists

im setting up my first workflow for our corporation and wanted to know if i can use one of our email distribution groups instead of a teamsite group?

is one preferred, easier, better...etc..etc..?

For email - yes, you can use an email distribution group (assuming you have a valid SMTP method for addressing it)
For grouptasks - no, you have to use an OS or TS group (or list of users, or combination of both/all three)

Ok, so if i can try to describe my work flow here (Ts 6.7.2 / Wf 1.0.1) :

start > Email Task > Manager Director Review

Now, for the managers and directors review, i have 3 people who can essentially approve or reject...

now, i have a distribution email list on our mail server called "DLDir", however i dont know if its an actual "user" on the TS server....

can i create a new user, assign it the distribution email address from the mail server and use that?

just want to clarify.

The email address you send to does not need to have assigned TeamSite access. You can email to anything.

The users who will approve content require TeamSite access.

If your workflow uses a grouptask for the review step, then that group needs to be a TeamSite or an OS group. Members of that group fall into the middle case.
