How to get iwmnt(iw mount) path in java?

Hi All,

I am able to access the workare path in my Java class, but its path is not started with iw mount path, can someone tell is there any method or utility by which we can get the path from iwmnt or directly access the workarea starting the path from iwmnt.

You should go through the CSSDK docs. You will find the solution.

(just a curious bystander...) While I think one might be able to derive the desired information from getRootDir(), the description seems to indicate that the return value is actually the CSDir object that references the root of an area (e.g.: .../somebranch/WORKAREA/somewa) as opposed to the iw-mount directory itself. Based on this, I think getArea() would provide similar information from which one might be able to derive the desired information.

However, in either case the documentation is somewhat sparse and it does seem odd that there's not a getIWMount() nor getIWHome() method - for the latter there appears to be getInstallHome() which presumably provides the same results, but it seems odd that they didn't provide method names using pre-existing nomenclature. Perhaps there's a different method that returns the mount point information though a quick look through the index didn't seem to show any.

Look at this method in that package: InstalledLocations.getIwmount().

I am sure there are other ways to do this as well. To simplify things, given the fact that your mount isn't going to change so frequently, I've seen clients put into a properties file. My personal preference is to use the package/method outlined above.

The "problem" is that the serverutils package isn't really part of the CSSDK API; that jar is in ContentCenter's classpath. If they change getIwmount() to, for example, getIWMount() between releases they have no obligation to tell you just like they have no obligation to tell you if they were to stop using OSCache or DOM4J. Practically speaking, this is no big deal because they probably won't change it. But just when you make that decision is when they change it.

Using the CSInstallationObject is a good bet as Adam mentioned, but you need a CSClient object to get it, which can be annoying if you want to do something like have a static utility method that does what I think CSNode SHOULD do: have a getMountPath() method (or something) that returns a null if it's a CSHole and the node's path in the OS "virtual" filesystem otherwise.

You can always use the Process class to run any of the CLTs that would give you what you want. This involves some overhead and also creates some headaches in terms of OS agnosticism. This may not be a big deal, depending on how the CSSDK is being used. Most companies don't switch between server OS **** nilly.

Utlimately, what I have learned is that it can be a big pain if you want to do things outside of the CSSDK that can't be done with an InputStream that you can get from a CSSimpleFile.
