OD Receiver Installation failed

Hi,

Environment:
Linux a1.webassets 2.6.24-23-xen #1 SMP Mon Jan 26 03:09:12 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

OD Receiver installation failed and no log files created to track the issues. I got the following errors during the installation.

1) ./startinstall_od: 4686: cannot create -e /opt/OpenDeployNG/install/install_od.log: Directory nonexistent
2) -e ERROR: (1) Copying -e /opt/OpenDeployNG/etc/rc.d/init.d/iwod60 to /etc/rc.d/init.d/iwod60 failed

In server, /opt/OpenDeployNG/install is existing, but no install_od.log file.

Advice please.

I logged in as "root" for the installation. "drwxrwxr-x" is the permission.
And YES, /opt/OpenDeployNG/etc/rc.d/init.d/ directory exists

BTW what shell does root use ?

I have seen when scripts kick off a command (running as someone else) that is they were coded for /bin/sh and you run csh then the commands may not work

The first line is probably root - but it could be something else - so using grep should get the information you're looking for without worrying about the contents of the first line of the file.

Ok. I will try.

One of the existing OD receiver has the same setup as the new server and I got the same result when i tried to run the /etc/passwd

$ grep root /etc/passwd
root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash

Like I say, I *doubt* that is the issue, but I have seen it cause a problem before. The insall scipt had done a su to another user and the shell used caused a problem.

One other question, is /opt a NFS mounted filesystem ? If so, does it allow root access ?

I suggest calling support. If you are strong in shell scripts, you can probably debug the script faster than support will respond.
