Get latest components doesnt preserve the skins

Hi All,

I am facing an issue .

When we copy a page from a different environment and update the components within the page using "Get latest components", then it is not preserving the skins.

for ex .

I copied a.page from ENV1 to ENV2 and did the "Get latest components" in ENV2 , it changes the selected skin to default for all the components irrespective of whether the earlier selected skin is default or something else .

Any help in this regard ?

What do you mean by "copy a page from a different environment"?

If that means from one TeamSite instance to another, I don't think that's supported unless you create a .spar file and reinstall it in the new environment. I think just copying the .page files from one TS instance to another can cause problems (maybe ones like what you're seeing).

Not sure but can you set the non-default skin as default?

You can set any skin as default, but if you are going from one TS instance to another, the base component IDs will be different.

I raised the case with IWOV and got a reply that we need to do that manually by running a script which will replace replace "SelectedSkin> to "SelectedSkin Changed="true"" .

Could you please elaborate on this- which script needs to be run?
Is this one time activity?

you can write a perl script which will replace the tag "SelectedSkin" to "SelectedSkin Changed="true" " in all the .page files.
Yes it will be a one time activity .

IWOV has accepted it as a Bug .
