Save DCR to specific name

Hey Guys I'm trying to save DCR with name starting with bs_ and ending with extension .xml. For now as a test I'm trying to save dcr with set name (bs_bName.xml) as seen in code. It's not working, what am I doing wrong. Any help will be appreciated.

So what is really happening ?

I did notice this

you set newDrcName to blank and the use that in setDCRName

That is an issue (may not be your only one)

Hey nipper i change var newDcrName=""; to var newDcrName; but save still saves to any name specified and not to bs_bName.xml as desired.

1, it should be set to a valid filename (not blank or undef).

2. are you seeing the alert that the filename is invalid ?

if not put this in the if (success step)

Then there is an issue with your JS somewhere. Change the browser settings to show all errors and enable debugging.

On the first, your test.js should be in httpd/iw folder or somewhere; where its relative path could be defined within your DCT as value of src attribute.

Try to put an alert as first call in your js; and check if you could view any.

means that it is assumed that

test.js

lives in the same directory as

datacapture.cfg

. Is that the case?

I'm not sure if you are supposed to be altering aspects of the root-container (not sure you can't either) - but if I read the above correctly - you're expecting a DCR that looks like:[html]...
[/html] or perhaps: [html]...
[/html]
Have you updated your test.js file based upon earlier feedback? You may need to re-post it in its current form in order for us to help debug things.

There's still a problem in your JS file:

Strange still no alerts and dcr is saved under different name which it shouldn't based on js logic. I even cleared my cache and still no alerts. I will try another dct and js file with alerts and see what happens.

There is a JS Syntax bug in your code ( Nipper pointed that out to you 5 days ago )

Thanks Boris alerts are now popping up, but when I try to save dcr as cv_cName.xml it still says filename chosen is invalid. I'm trying to see why is this.

One of the reasons is that you did not pay any attention to Ghoti's earlier post either. Perhaps it's time to do that now.
Read it carefully, the post explains why your DCR Filename is still invalid and what to do to fix that sad fact.

Hey begood, I haven't seen any code where you assign either vavue or empty string to newDcrName - so I can not comment on it.

Note that:
- setDCRName is an asynchronous Server Side call, it does not completes immediately.
- You can validate the result of it using IWDCRInfo.getStatus Method - with proper time-outs.
- "onSaveNameSpecified" is the wrong event to implement Auto Naming, see "save Events" Diagram in FormAPI Manual.
Use "onSaveValid" instead.
